Color Spectrum

As a creative soul, the play of color against color has always intrigued me. In 2015, I set my goals to focus on the study and experimentation of color theory. Work began with a dominant hue. Next, a complimentary accent brought contrast to the design. There are sparks of surprise colors used minimally for interest…but most of all, because it is just too much fun! This journey on the color wheel was a great skill builder as an artist. It taught me the importance of values, hues, and contrast when I am in that creative zone. All pieces are painted on 300 lb. watercolor paper. Black cradled boards hold the finished designs. The series of work looks dynamic when viewed in order of color spectrum or each as a single piece telling it’s own story.
